Andy Booth grabbed a stunning hat-trick of trademark headers to show he is not past his best.
Booth scored two in the first half and completed his treble eight minutes from time as Huddersfield inflicted defeat on relegation battlers Rotherham.
The Millers went ahead through Jonathan Forte, with his first goal of his loan spell from Sheffield United, but it was downhill after the first half hour.
Huddersfield struggled to come to terms with their opponents' five-man midfield early in the game and were caught out by Rotherham's quick-fire breaks.
But once Huddersfield started producing the ammunition for Booth it was game over.
Forte found a finish that Booth would have been proud of when he went through on goal and coolly slotted past Phil Senior to give Rotherham the lead, but Booth hit back with two goals in seven minutes.
Mark Hudson's excellent cross-field pass found Andy Holdsworth who delivered a peach of a cross for Booth to leap between centre-backs Shaun Barker and Colin Murdock to head home the equaliser.
Just after that Town's Danny Schofield went down under challenge in the box only for referee Colin Webster to book him for diving.
Booth then put Huddersfield in front when he cashed in on a defensive blunder from Barker who allowed the ball to bounce in the box and the striker pounced to plant a header into the bottom corner.
Despite going behind Rotherham were always in the game and claimed the better of the second half until Booth sealed his hat-trick eight minutes from time with Holdsworth again the provider.
Booth may have been the hero and left the field to a standing ovation but substitute Gary Taylor-Fletcher scored the best goal of the game when he controlled brilliantly and lifted the ball over keeper Gary Montgomery.
The result was harsh on Rotherham but Booth proved to be the difference as he kept Huddersfield on track for automatic promotion.
